The modern world, through the pace of life, changes often leads to alienation of people, closing ourselves in our own "shells". Subconsciously, we seek refuge in spaces that actually isolate us from real encounters with other people; we lock ourselves in boxes, cubicles, virtual spaces; more often than not, we reach for a substitute for a conversation or meeting, because it's easier, faster, less engaging. We create boxes around ourselves, capsules where we exist in a safe, constructed and ordered individual space that becomes an isolated private worldview with which we identify and identify. Our boxes are our apartments, studies, professions, workshops, computers, tablets, smartphones, iPods, addictions, etc.
In extreme individual cases, this creates a situation of being pushed outside the community boundary, cut off, isolated. Often we function side by side, physically close, but nevertheless without the desire, need, opportunity for mutual contact or mutual interaction. On the other hand, isolation, confining oneself in a "box" offers a chance to save or preserve one's individuality, from what is mass, popular, unified.
The organizer of this event is the Culture Transporter Foundation and the partners are the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and the German partner association KulturTransporter. The project is implemented with the support of the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation and co-financed by the City of Cracow.
